In the late 1990s, land subdivision at Yeronga changed the surroundings of heritage-listed Rhyndarra, a two-storey mansion that had variously served as a grand house.
Committees
The main tasks of the Policy Committee include:
- implementation of the Queensland Heritage Strategy
- management of the Heritage Council’s strategic plan
- development of heritage policy and initiatives as referred to by the Heritage Council
- coordination of the Heritage Council’s strategic projects and budget.
The main tasks of the Strategic Register Committee are:
- hearing oral representations (Word, 306K)‡ from owners and community members about places proposed for inclusion in the Queensland Heritage Register
- deciding which places will be entered in the register (the committee has delegation from the Queensland Heritage Council to make these decisions)
- advising the heritage council about appeals concerning heritage registration
- considering applications for removal of places from the heritage register.
